Photos compare Apple iPhone 6 mockup to older models

You might recall Sonny Dickson as the Australian teen who shook up Apple last year, by constantly leaking those plastic shells for the Apple iPhone 5c. As it turned out, Dickson had a network of Foxconn workers who were sending him pictures of parts, and the parts themselves. Now, Dickson has obtained a mockup of the Apple iPhone 6, and has taken a few photos comparing the mockup to other iPhone models.

Besides earlier models of the iPhone, the mockup is also being compared to the fifth generation Apple iPod touch, the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the HTC One (M8). One of the consistent features ...

New Oppo R6007 unveiled, looks like a Find 7 mini

Just yesterday, Oppo announced the N1 mini, which looks a lot like the original N1, but it’s smaller while offering less-advanced features. Now, it looks like Oppo also has a mini variant of its Find 7 smartphone - the company’s first handset to sport a Quad HD display (5.5 inches).

The new smartphone is called Oppo R6007, and definitely looks like a downsized Find 7. Its features include a 4.7-inch display with 720 x 1,240 pixels, quad-core 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, 8MP rear camera with LED flash, 2MP front-facing camera, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of expandable memory. Measuring 137 x ...

Possible Samsung Galaxy Mega 7.0 press shot leaks

Samsung is the king of the phablets, but it has a serious question to ask: if you want the best of both worlds, why compromise on size? You just want a tablet with a phone in it, right? Obviously, that strategy worked super well for Asus with its Fonepad, so Samsung wants to give it a try as well. We saw what appeared to be an FCC filing for the device recently, now we're getting what looks like a press shot of the Samsung Galaxy Mega 7.0.

The image shows the device with China Mobile branding, but if it is the same device that we saw go through the FCC, it would follow that Samsung ...

Google doesn't consider tablets to be "mobile devices", how do you define "mobile"?

The idea of a "mobile device" is a little tough to get a gauge on. For the purposes of Phone Arena, we tend to limit the idea to smartphones, tablets, wearables, and occasionally cars, but usually just the first three categories. There is always a blurry line because for a long time, "mobile" essentially meant "a device that fits in your pocket", like a phone or PDA. Then, the definition was expanded to include tablets, but the reasoning there was tenuous at best. Tablets were packed into the "mobile" idea mostly because they ran traditionally "mobile" operating systems like iOS and Android and ...

WWDC banners confirm that Apple will be unveiling iOS 8 this coming week

With WWDC 2014 opening on Monday, there is speculation that Apple will unveil one or both rumored versions of the Apple iPhone 6 next week. There is a model equipped with a 4.7 inch screen, said to be as thin as 6mm, and dubbed the Apple iPhone 6 Air. There is also a 5.5 inch phablet-sized model rumored, with the moniker Apple iPhone 6 Pro.

Also tipped to be making an appearance at WWDC is the long waited Apple iWatch. The latest leak about the wearable reveals that it will have a circular face, and have a different style for each gender. The iWatch is also expected to have a thin and elegant ...

Did you know: These are five of the cheapest phones ever made

In early 2013, Nokia announced the most affordable phone it had ever produced – the Nokia 105. It had a color display, an FM radio, a splash-proof keypad, a long-lasting battery, and even a bunch of pre-loaded games, which made it a great pick for buyers on a really, really tight budget. And apparently, the formula worked. The phone sold by the truckloads in developing markets, where it retailed for a bit over $20.

The Nokia 105, however, isn't the cheapest phone that has ever existed. This title once belonged to the Vodafone 150 – a basic phone with a 5-hour talk ...

Check out this hilarious satire of what Apple's new product video for the iWatch might look like

Syncing the Apple iWatch to your existing Apple iPhone is a snap. So says "Susie", Apple's COO/BAMF, in a hilarious satire of Apple's product videos that it likes to issue with the launch of each new device. According to this Apple "executive," syncing the timepiece with your iPhone allows you to make or take calls on your watch, "even if your iPhone is in the next room."

Syncing the iWatch and the iPhone happens in the background thanks to "iSync." All you need to do is pair your iWatch with your iPhone. To do that, "Put them together, make sure the 16 character code matches, bump them ...

Did you know that Samsung once struggled to make mobile phones comparable to Motorola's?

While Samsung and Motorola are both big names in the mobile industry, there are huge differences between them. Samsung is currently the world’s largest mobile phone maker, generating a lot of cash from its phone business, while Motorola had troubles in the last years, this leading to its Mobility division being bought by Google, and (later this year) by Lenovo. But you probably already knew this.

What you may have not known is that, about two decades ago, Samsung was struggling to manufacture its first mobile phones, and, at first, it just couldn’t match the quality and performance of Motorola’s ...

BBM coming soon to Windows Phone; messaging app to be pre-loaded on Nokia Lumia 630?

After Facebook offered $19 billion for WhatsApp, BlackBerry CEO John Chen had an epiphany. Realizing that BBM might be a hidden jewel inside BlackBerry, and understanding that WhatsApp was valued at $42 for each subscriber, he opened up BBM to iOS and Android subscribers. It was a smart idea, since it added a large number of new users for BBM, thus raising the value of the messaging app.

The executive also has promised Windows Phone users that they too, would be allowed to subscribe to BBM. And while this has yet to take place, earlier speculation had the app opening up to Microsoft's mobile ...

Microsoft's mini tablet could surface later this year

The Microsoft Surface mini should be enjoying its second week on the market. With a digital pen, and a 7.5 inch screen, the slate designed for capturing digital notes and messages was supposed to be the center of attention at a Microsoft event on May 20th. Instead, with the Surface mini unveiling canceled, the new Microsoft Surface Pro 3 was the focus of the day's little get together.

According to IHS analyst Rhoda Alexander, who is in charge of research for monitors and tablets, Microsoft is still working with the supply chain on the Surface mini. 15,000 to 20,000 units were reportedly ...

Video of WWDC preparation reveals a possible Apple iPhone 6 unveiling at the conference

Will we see one or two new variants of the Apple iPhone 6 introduced this coming week at WWDC? A video allegedly shot in the conference room of the Moscone Center in San Francisco, shows a device that could be either the 4.7 inch or 5.5 inch iPhone 6. The image of the phone appears to be projected onto a big screen in front of a large number of seats. The only interpretation that makes sense is that Apple will be introducing one or two new iPhones at the developer conference.

The back of the device dovetails perfectly with the back of other leaked images that claim to be the Apple iPhone ...

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 press images leaked

Samsung’s unannounced Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (SM-T800 / SM-T805) just appeared in a set of press images - not long after we saw the device in a few live photos (here and here).

Published by @evleaks, the press images confirm that the new tablet has a perforated (dotted) back plate, just like the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone. We can also see that the Tab S 10.5 is really thin (although its exact dimensions aren’t known), and comes with Samsung’s latest Magazine UX.

As previously reported, the 10.5-inch display of this Galaxy Tab S is an AMOLED one with 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. Undoubtedly, ...

Update brings some Samsung Galaxy S5 features to the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

One of our loyal readers owns the T-Mobile version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. He was generous enough to send us screenshots, showing us that his trusty phablet had just received an update that includes some features from the Samsung Galaxy S5. One of these is the Download Booster. This allows files of 30MB or larger, to be quickly downloaded by using a combination of Wi-Fi and the carrier's LTE network at the same time. Just remember that when Wi-Fi calling is being used, this feature is disabled.

Another update borrowed from the Galaxy S5 is Kids Mode. With a special Kids Store, free ...

Funny weather app for Windows Phone keeps you hip to the weather in your area

For the measly amount of $1.29, Windows Phone users can have the Funny weather app keeping them up to date as far as the weather is concerned. Nothing terribly funny about the Funny weather app, but it does include plenty of data to help users decide whether to leave their house with an umbrella, or with sunglasses. The app includes a 5-day forecast for the city where the phone currently resides, based on GPS. Up to five cities can be monitored, each showing a five-day forecast.

And since this app is for Windows Phone, dynamic tiles can be made for all of the cities whose weather is being ...

Chitika says iOS 7 adoption rate hits 89.7% for the Apple iPhone, 84.8% for the Apple iPad

Analytics firm Chitika went through a ton of data, and found that in North America, iOS 7 is running on 89.7% of the web traffic generated by the Apple iPhone. In February, that figure was 83.3%. Turning to the Apple iPad, in North America, 84.8% of the web traffic that originated from Apple's slates was running iOS 7. Back in February, the iOS 7 adoption rate on the iPad was 78.5%.

The current North American adoption rates for the iPhone trail what we saw for iOS 6 last year, just before WWDC. At that point in time, iOS 6 was on 92.8% of Apple iPhone units. At the same time, 82.9% of Apple ...

Addictive game Dots gets an amazing sequel called TwoDots

Dots was, and still is, a very addictive game. If there was one negative that could be said about it, it was that the game wasn't very deep. There was the endless mode, the timed mode, and the newly added challenge mode to give a bit of multiplayer. But, at the end of the day, you're just aiming for a high score and that's about it. The sequel, TwoDots takes the basic gameplay, but puts it into a puzzle format very similar to Candy Crush Saga.

At first, you'll just have to gather a certain amount of various colors, but pretty quickly, you'll have to deal with bringing anchors ...

Puzzle and Dragons reaches 4 million downloads in North America

When it comes to free-to-play mobile games, there is really one runaway king of the hill, and it probably isn't the game you would think of. It isn't Candy Crush Saga or Clash of Clans, but rather it is Puzzle & Dragons (PAD). The game is a phenomenon, and it has reached another milestone in North America, hitting 4 million downloads just 6 weeks after it passed 3 million downloads.

If you haven't played Puzzle & Dragons, it is something of a hybrid of Pokemon collection game, a dungeon crawler, and a color matching game (e.g. Bejeweled, Candy Crush, et al). The twist ...

Moto Maker will continue, even after the US plant closes

Earlier today, the bad (but possibly inevitable) news came down that Motorola is planning to shut down its Fort Worth assembly plant, which currently is used to build the custom Moto Maker orders for customers in the US. That news obviously led to the natural follow-up question: what does this mean for those custom Moto X orders going forward?

Well, Motorola has answered at least part of that question. According to Droid Life, Motorola has said that Moto Maker will continue to offer the customization options that you would expect. This will all continue even after the plant in ...

HTC does marketing the right way in new ad for Desire 816

No dark rooms, no rainy evening, and no celebrity musings about abstract concepts that dance around the subject at hand. Indeed, HTC gives up a solid promotion for the recently released HTC Desire 816, a mid-range, Android powered phone that has a nice 5.5-inch screen, dual-front-facing speakers, and ironically, “more megapixels.”

For under $400, you will be hard pressed to find a better value for a large-screen, solid camera, and smooth performance, all while zipping along an LTE network.

The front-facing "BoomSound" speakers that HTC is adopting as a common form factor is a net ...

Tear down of LG G3 shows it to be easy to fix

The LG G3 is the latest flagship model to be released, and already the phone has been taken apart. It was all done for a reason of course. UBREAKIFIX.com was behind this "reverse engineering" merely to test how easy or hard it is to repair the phone. The verdict? The LG G3 is easy to fix, according to the smartphone repair company.

Unlike many of today's flagship handsets, the battery is replaceable. That makes it easier to gain access to certain areas of the phone, and allows you to swap cells by simply popping out the old one, and popping in the new one. And unlike the LG G2, which featured ...

WhatsApp returns to the Windows Phone store, just in time for the weekend

After a brief, yet frustrating hiatus, WhatsApp is back in the Windows Phone Store, ready to get you chatting with your friends in time for the weekend.

Initial reports about WhatsApp being removed tied the decision to compatibility factors with Windows Phone 8.1 developer preview, but it actually turned out to be due to a problem with Windows Phone 8 and the current GDR3 update which began pushing out last year.

The problem had to do with how notifications were handled on what is still the current “official” version of Windows Phone. There were not a whole lot of details provided, ...

Samsung Galaxy S5 mini allegedly pictured in the wild, might feature a new Exynos 3 Quad processor

Earlier today, Samsung finally announced the Galaxy S5 Active, but there are still at least two rumored S5 variants that remain to be confirmed: the Galaxy S5 Prime, and the Galaxy S5 mini. We don’t have news on the former at the moment, but the latter seems to have appeared in a few live photos.

SamMobile received said photos from an anonymous source. If they really present the S5 mini, then the handset looks very similar to the regular (and larger) S5, complete with a heart rate sensor below its rear camera, and a fingerprint scanner on the front. According to SamMobile, this Galaxy S5 ...

Acer announces Liquid Leap wearable and Liquid Jade smartphone

Besides unveiling the Iconia Tab 8, Acer today also announced its very first smart wearable device, called Liquid Leap. This will be offered alongside a new smartphone dubbed Acer Liquid Jade. Both products were briefly showcased by Acer at the end of last month, but it’s only now that the company is properly announcing them.

The Liquid Leap is water-resistant (IPX7-ceritfied) and has a 1-inch touchscreen display. It tracks your fitness, displays incoming calls and messages, and controls the music player on your Liquid Jade smartphone (via Bluetooth 4.0). Its battery can last up to 7 ...

iOS 8 concept brings "Blocks" (aka widgets) to Apple devices

This isn't the first time that a designer has tried to come up with an Appley way to add widget-like functionality to iOS, and (assuming Apple hasn't actually added widgets in iOS 8) it likely won't be the last time either. But, when it comes to concepts, we always prefer when a designer really puts quality thought into how a company would approach an issue, rather than just building an unrealistic concept based on desire. Jay Machalani has done exactly that with his "Blocks" concept.

The idea is simple: Android has widgets, Windows Phone has live tiles, so what would Apple's ...

Report: Japanese sales of the Apple iPhone 5s dropped 85% in April

A firm that tracks smartphone sales in Japan, BCN, says that the number of Apple iPhone 5s units sold in the country, dropped by a startling 85% in April. In March, Apple sold 3.9 million units of its flagship model in Japan. That figure declined sharply to 570,000 units sold last month. And the Apple iPhone 5c has suffered through a similar slump, with Japanese sales of that model declining from 430,000 in March, to 150,000 in April for a 65% drop.

One reason for the decline in Japanese iPhone sales is the 5% to 8% hike in sales tax that took effect on April 1st. Combined, total iPhone ...

Acer intros new Iconia Tab 8 Android tablet, quad-core Intel Atom processor on board

Not long after introducing the Iconia Tab 7, Acer today announced another Android tablet: the Iconia Tab 8 - which, of course, sports an 8-inch display. Unlike the Iconia Tab 7, the new Acer Iconia Tab 8 offers features that almost (though not really) make it a high-end device.

The 8-inch IPS display of the Iconia Tab has a 1,200 x 1,920 pixel resolution and anti-fingerprint coating, so it should provide a pretty good user experience. The new tablet is powered by a quad-core Intel Atom Z3745 processor which, coupled with 2GB of RAM, is enough for most (if not all) your multimedia and multi-tasking ...

Apple now deals with 323 carriers world-wide

According to a report from Wells Fargo, the number of carriers that Apple deals with has risen to 323. The banking firm's analyst, Maynard Um, surely ran out of fingers and toes when he counted the number of carriers partnering with Apple. This figure is up since the middle of April, when the tally was 316. It is also a 15.4% gain since October, when Apple had 280 carrier partners.

Um says that the increase in the number of carriers dealing with Apple, comes after two fairly stable years during 2011 and 2012. As Apple increases the number of carriers it deals with, the quantity of iPhone ...

WhatsApp is out of the Windows Phone Store because of compatibility issues with GDR3

It was largely speculated exactly why WhatsApp got pulled from the Windows Phone Store roughly ten days ago. It was considered that the reason for this was a certain incompatibility between the widely-popular messaging app and the latest version of the Windows Phone platform, 8.1. But today, Microsoft came out with a statement about WhatsApp's disappearance - it seems that not WP 8.1, but Windows Phone 8 GDR3 is the actual culprit. It appears that an issue regarding the way notifications are being handled after the GDR3 update broke the seamless compatibility between WhatsApp and Microsoft's ...

Samsung wants to trademark Galaxy Tab4 Active, water-resistant tablet in the works?

It seems that Samsung could be working on a dust- and water-resistant variation of its Galaxy Tab4 family of tablets. The giant from the Far East has applied for the "Samsung Galaxy Tab4 Active" trademark in Norway, which hints us that a water-resistant slate is at least being considered by the maker. The trademark application has been filed on April 30 and although formal checks have been performed, it is still pending.

Judging by Samsung's current flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, its ruggedized variation, the Galaxy S5 Active, and the Galaxy S4 Active from last year, such a tablet would ...

Change of heart: Update switches Samsung's Galaxy Gear from Android to Tizen

Two weeks ago, we heard that Samsung is about to roll a substantial update to its first smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear. It was said that the update will change the very operating system of the wearable – after the update, the Galaxy Gear was to run on Samsung's homebrewed Tizen OS instead of Android.

Indeed, the update has just started rolling out and apart from the substitution of the OS, it also brings a number of brand new features to the Galaxy Gear, which brings the latter almost on par with the newer Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. Some of the more notable new additions are Sleep mode, which ...

Nokia Lumia 630 ad puts emphasis on apps, says close to nothing about the phone itself

Nokia's latest ad about the Nokia Lumia 630, which is the first Windows Phone device in the world to come with WP 8.1 and on-screen navigation buttons, does not focus on the affordable mid-ranger itself, but on apps that are available for the platform. It's purpose is toprobably prove that the existing app gap between Windows Phone and Android/iOS is not that large.

The ad boasts that some of the more popular an essential social apps and games are already available on the Lumia 630 - Viber, Shazam, Instagram, Vine, and Asphalt 8: Airborne, to name a few. Yes, it is mainly targeted at the ...

HTC One M8 Prime may have been cancelled

If you were excited at the thought of HTC preparing a Prime version of its One M8 smartphone, it looks like you’re in for a little bit of disappointment. @evleaks - who previously posted the first and only renders of the One M8 Prime - now has it that “development on Prime has been suspended indefinitely.” A reason for this hasn’t been provided.

Granted, assuming that HTC cancelled the M8 Prime, this doesn’t mean the company can’t work on another handset that shares its features. The M8 Prime was supposed to be waterproof, offering a 5.5-inch Quad HD (1,440 x 2,560) display, LTE-A Cat. ...

Did you know that the first phones with a 5000mAh battery are coming next month?

The single most-quoted complaint about current-day smartphones seems to be their poor battery life. Most recent flagships now easily last a full day, but even they, with their batteries in the vicinity of 3000mAh capacity, find it hard to go without a re-charge for longer than two days in most cases. But what if there was a phone that could last much longer, what if a phone maker would just make a handset with, say... a 5000mAh battery!

You might think it's impossible - no first-tier company has ever done this after all, and you'd be quick to judge us and say this ...

How-to eliminate notification spam on Android, iOS, and Windows Phone 8.1

Many of you know this feeling all too well. You install the latest trending app or game, play around with it for a few minutes, then close it and attend to more important things in life. Next time you reach for your smartphone or tablet, your attention gets distracted by a notification. It came from the same app or game, and it's usually asking you to do something annoying - like download another app, buy more diamonds, or whatever. You will dismiss it, of course, but there's always more where that came from. And if your luck is bad enough that you installed several apps like that, it won't be ...

Samsung Galaxy S5 Active

A quad-core 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 CPU is under the hood along with the Adreno 330 GPU. 2GB of RAM and 16GB of free memory is on board. The back and front facing cameras are 16MP and 2MP respectively. Android 4.4.2 is pre-installed out of the box.

Moto X+1 claimed again to be Motorola's first phone with a 1080p display, alleged pictures leak

We've been hearing about an alleged Motorola Moto X+1 flagship upgrade for a while now, and the phone was even referenced on the company's own website several times. The other day a resident leakster posted a blurry image of what is supposed to be the Moto X+1 riding on the subway, which you can see in the slideshow below, and today we have one more eventual picture of the handset, courtesy of a Baidu user. It purportedly depicts the front of the flagship, which seems rather different than the one of the Moto X.

The exact specs of the handset are still shrouded in mystery, though, ...

How to add emoticons/emoji to folder names in Android

The great green Android robot lets you do many things with it, and is the most versatile mobile operating system out there. One of these things is creating app folders on your home screens, which has been a feature in Android for a while now. This way you can categorize and distribute your apps thematically, while some of the popular launchers or manufacturer overlays out there even do this for you, putting all GApps in a folder titled Google, for example, for faster, easier access, and reduced clutter.

You are no doubt familiar with the fact that you can change the folder names ...

Oppo announces 5-inch Oppo N1 Mini smartphone with 13MP rotary camera

Right on time, Oppo announced the Oppo N1 Mini smartphone. Believe it or not, this "mini" phone comes with a 5-inch display, and its existence is mostly justified by the 5.9-inch Oppo N1 being one humongous smartphone! Just to get an idea about its largeness, fire up our Size Comparison tool and put the Oppo N1 against the LG G Pro 2, which is another 5.9-inch phablet, and you'll understand what we're talking about.

So, how does the Oppo N1 Mini measure up to its big, bulky brother? While the latter measures 6.72 x 3.25 x 0.35 inches (170.7 x 82.6 x 9 mm), the former is a more sane 5.84 ...

BBM 2.2 update brings simplified sign-up, new emoticons, and more goodies

BBM users on Android and iOS should be looking forward to an update to version 2.2. In fact, Android users can already snag it from Google Play, while the iOS faithful will have to wait a little more. Actually, BlackBerry owners will have to wait the longest, but the company promised they will be in for a special treat. Hopefully, it will be worth the wait.

Anyway, the new release comes with a healthy set of improvements, starting with an easier sign-up process. BlackBerry has liquidated some fields that were considered unnecessary by users. Signing up has been distilled to providing a name, ...

LG G3 smashes the GS5, One (M8) and Z2 in our latest poll

Right after this week's announcement of the breath-taking LG G3 (there goes our LG G3 hands-on), we published a poll, asking you which of the four major Android flagships of H1 2014 would you prefer. Naturally, we view the LG G3, Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One (M8) and Sony Xperia Z2 as the four major smartphones in the first half of the year, so these were the only options present in our poll, since we didn't want to water things down.

To tell you the truth, we expected the LG G3 to take the lead, as it's the newest handset of the four, with specs that are obviously a notch ahead of the rest ...

Alleged iPhone 6 chassis rear poses for a picture

If you need more proof that an iPhone 6 with an alleged 4.7" display is coming down the pipe, look no further than the increased intensity of leaks and rumors about it. The other day we heard that the iPhone 6 will enter mass production in July, so that enough units are ready for the release in September, and now we are getting the eventual back cover of the handset, courtesy of an Apple device repair shop Down Under.

If this piece on the right turns out credible, it will confirm the previous chassis leaks we've had, indicating a larger, thinner handset, with two separated areas ...

We're back with the 86th post in our special photographic-centric series where we present you with a number of awesome images taken by... well, you (and your cell phones).

So, which picture did you like most last time? The answer is Azhar Nizamani's photo, taken with the Samsung Galaxy S II. And a pretty well-deserved first place it is, we should say!

Of course, there are many other incredible images left to be seen. Let's continue with another set of 10 pics, each of which can easily convince even the most professionally-inclined photographer that cell phones are more ...

Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer agrees to buy the NBA's L.A. Clippers for a cool $2 billion

The L.A. Clippers will soon have a new owner, if everything goes according to plan. Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has signed an agreement with the Sterling Family Trust to purchase the team for $2 billion. The bid goes right to the NBA and does not require the approval of the team's current owner, Donald Sterling. On secretly recorded tapes, Sterling made racist comments that not only insulted his own team, but reverberated all the way to Miami where LeBron James reacted. ESPN is reporting that Donald Sterling was declared mentally incapacitated by experts, allowing his wife Shelly to sell ...

Rumor: HTC's first smartwatch (One Wear?) may rival Motorola's Moto 360

HTC’s execs have been talking about wearables for quite a while now, and we know that the company is planning to release its first such products later this year. One of them could be a smartwatch, and it seems that HTC is already showing off demos of it in Taiwan (the company’s home country).

According to TK Tech News, the first HTC smartwatch is tentatively called One Wear, and could be released in late August, or early September. It’s said that this alleged HTC One Wear has a round design “much like the Moto 360.” HTC may offer the device in two variants - metal and polycarbonate - thus ...

Split-screen for the Apple iPad might not make it to WWDC

Earlier this month, we told you that Apple would be showing off a split-screen feature for the Apple iPad when it introduces iOS 8 at WWDC next month. The lack of such a feature on Apple's slate was mentioned in ads by Microsoft. Those commercials showed off the ability of the Microsoft Surface tablets to multi-task, while showing how iPad users can not use more than one application at a time.

Now, there is talk that Apple may not have the split-screen application ready in time for WWDC, which begins on June 2nd and runs through June 6th. Even if the split-screen is on hold, there still ...

Apple iPhone 6 to launch September 19th says major European carrier

A report out of Germany says that giant carrier Deutsche Telekom has been telling customers that the Apple iPhone 6 will be in its stores on Friday, September 19th. Obviously, we suggest that you take this with a grain of salt. The mobile operator could have simply figured out that the last few iPhone launches occurred on a Friday in the 9th month of the year.

The last pair of Apple iPhone launches have taken place on the 20th or 21st of September. Last year, a poorly kept secret, the Apple iPhone 5c, was released together with the Apple iPhone 5s. This year, there has been quite a bit of ...

HTC One Remix (One mini 2) for Verizon pictured

We now have a visual confirmation of the fact that the so called HTC Remix is indeed an HTC One mini 2 variant for Verizon Wireless. @evleaks today revealed the first image that shows a Verizon-branded HTC Remix, and, sure enough, this looks just like the One mini 2 that was officially announced by HTC two weeks ago.

While HTC said that the One mini 2 would be released starting June, there are no details on when Verizon customers should expect to see the Remix in stores. However, we’re assuming it will happen in the next few months.

The One mini 2 is a bit thicker than the HTC One ...

5.2% of Windows Phone powered handsets are running Windows Phone 8.1

AdDuplex is a mobile ad network for Windows Phone flavored handsets. Thanks to that role, it has an insight into the Windows Phone ecosystem that most don't have. The latest data gleaned by founder Alan Mendelevich reveals that Windows Phone 8.1 is already on 5.2% of Windows Phone devices. Currently, those who signed up with Microsoft as a developer, and those with the Nokia Lumia 630/635 have access to Windows Phone 8.1. 77% are running Windows Phone 8 and 17.8% are still using a handset powered by Windows Phone 7.x.

AdDuplex also revealed that while the Nokia Lumia 520 remains the most ...

LG G3 unboxing videos show the differences between the T-Mobile and Korean versions

Officially announced two days ago, the LG G3 is currently available to buy only in South Korea, with a global launch to follow starting June. Even so, unboxing videos already started to show up, so we thought that you might be interested to see them.

We spotted two LG G3 unboxing videos, one of them officially coming from T-Mobile, and another one showing the handset’s Korean version (for SK Telecom). As you’ll see in the videos, the Korean model has two removable batteries and a pair of headphones, while the T-Mobile variant has only one battery, and (apparently) no headphones at all. ...

The Woz gives thumbs up to Apple's purchase of Beats Audio

So now that Apple CEO Tim Cook has pulled the trigger on the largest acquisition in Apple's history, what does the old guard think of the transaction? Let's find out how from Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. The Woz is probably one of the most honest personalities in the industry. And he is not above saying that Apple has made a mistake, if indeed that is his opinion.

But actually, Wozniak loves the deal. He says that acquiring Beats is good for Apple since it takes the company back to its "cool roots". He also says that if he wanted a pair of ordinary headphones, he would pick Beats over ...
