Xiaomi has filed a patent application with the State Intellectual Property Office in China. The patent applied for deals with a method to integrate fingerprint scanning into the touch buttons on a handset. The technology could be used on the home button of a handset, possibly the next Xiaomi flagship model which could be the Mi 5.The patent application reveals the use of an additional layer of glass on top of the home button which would add to the looks of the phone and help protect the components inside the fingerprint scanner.
