App allows you to replace your tape measure with an Apple iPhone

Let's say that you need to draw a floor plan and get a rough idea of the dimensions of a room, but you left your tape measure at home. What can you do? How about pulling out your iPhone. Thanks to the Roomscan app, you can take your handset and put it up against a wall, listen for a beep, move to the next wall and keep going until you're done. Within seconds, the iPhone display will spit out the room's dimensions in feet, meters or East Asain Units. The final measurements are said to be accurate within 10cm (about 6 inches) which means that the dimensions you get are really ballpark figures only.
